Peter Robertson (BA, RN, CCRA) is an Australian Registered Nurse with experience in surgical nursing, Intensive Care Trauma nursing and Hospital Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Macquarie University, Sydney. He is a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) having been a Certified Clinical Research Associate since 2005.
Peter has been involved in clinical training and troubleshooting in Urology for a number of companies in Australia, New Zealand and extensively throughout Asia since 1992. This role involved training surgeons, nurses and sales representatives in the use of various Urological devices and surgical techniques, principally in relation to treating prostate disease, urinary incontinence and male erectile dysfunction. Peter has developed many sales and clinical resources for companies for both primary training purposes and dealing with unexpected situations in the OR, including salvage operations. From 1994 to 1997, Peter worked as the Director of Asia-Pacific for VidaMed Inc. During this period he coordinated a pivotal clinical trial in Japan to provide VidaMed’s TUNA therapy with both regulatory approval and reimbursement in that country.
Since establishing Five Corners with Deborah Bell in 1997, Peter has primarily focussed on developing the services of Five Corners to provide companies wishing to conduct medical device-based clinical research in Australia and New Zealand with a broad range of services to bring devices to market as quickly and as comprehensively as possible. Besides working in all aspects of device-based research, Peter has successfully sought a number of new surgical codes via the Australian Medicare Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) for new minimally invasive surgical therapies, which is an essential part of establishing reimbursement in Australia. Peter has a particular interest in training and ongoing education for medical research staff in the correct methodology of conducting research so as to be compliant with both ICH GCP guidelines, as well as the US Code of Federal Regulations.
